Your Turn: A soda tax for Arizona education? That’s not so sweet
Funding our public schools is critical to our future. But would we want to do so by creating a new tax that makes prices skyrocket, costs jobs, hurts small businesses and targets the pocketbooks of Arizona families?
That is what a beverage tax does. A recent story in The Arizona Republic cited a poll that claimed a majority of Arizona residents would support a beverage tax if the revenue is earmarked for education. But people feel differently once they see this tax in action.
