West Virginia lawmakers are considering a ban on safe, convenient, affordable ingredients that West Virginia families love and have relied on in their food and beverage products for years.

This ban would empty 60% of grocery store shelves over products that are proven safe, significantly limiting access and hiking costs at a time when West Virginians are already struggling to afford the everyday grocery items that cost too much.

If families already can’t afford everyday items like eggs –– why would we cause that problem across every single aisle at the grocery store?

Additionally, implementing this ban will create a confusing patchwork of state laws, making it impossible for West Virginians to understand why certain products are or are not available to them, and likely driving them across state lines to purchase the products they need.

Finally, West Virginians deserve the freedom to decide what goes in their grocery carts – the government shouldn’t make those decisions for them.

It’s critical for West Virginia lawmakers and Governor Morrissey to reject HB 2354 before it does irreversible damage to West Virginia families and local businesses.
